I always hate reading statements like this:

"Research indicates that the benefits of exercise, a diet rich in whole foods, a positive environment, and meditation surpass the effects of medication by more than tenfold."

This statement implies there are benefits to all the medications. Somewhat less than one-tenth the benefits of the natural methods mentioned, but that's still considerable benefit. Actually, as medications have proliferated, we've become LESS healthy. It seems the medications are a net harm, rather than any benefit at all.

Of course SOME medications, like an antibiotic when you have a serious infection, have much benefit, even more IMO than natural methods in many cases. It's reasonable to infer the quoted statement was speaking collectively though, comparing natural means vs meds, averaged across the board.
